Membership

The Kingston Power Boat Association (KPBA) was formed in 1939 by workers at a local shipyard.  They designated the KPBA to be a cooperative, do-it-yourself, low-cost boat club that would assist its members as they supported each other in their pursuit of boating pleasures on the Rondout Creek and the Hudson River.

The KPBA facility consists of 54 slips, jet ski docks, a four-season clubhouse, dining area, bar, and commercial kitchen.  Located on the beautiful banks of the Rondout Creek at 370 Abeel Street on the North bank of the Rondout Creek, approx. 1.5 miles from the Hudson River.  Our mailing address is P.O.  OBLIGATIONS AS A MEMBER

1. To join in with the social and maintenance activities of the club

2. To plan and attend parties, dinners, and cookouts

3. To serve on work parties, committees and as officers or directors

4. To financially support the Club with dues, mooring, storage fees, and assessments.

 WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

 1. Initiation           $500.00

2. Annual Dues     $350.00 (plus tax)

3. Assessments:

      All regular members are required to do a minimum of 20 hours of work per year; an additional 20 hours for Float/Dock holders.  If you can’t complete your hours, you will be charged $25/hr.  Don’t worry, getting your hours is easy!  Just join a committee or help with any of our many parties throughout the year.

 HOW TO APPLY

1. Obtain an application form (available at the club house) from any member.

2. Submit the completed application to the Membership Committee Chairperson with the initiation fee and the first years dues.

3. Interview with the membership Committee.  They will submit your application with the recommendation to the club membership.

If approved, you must serve one year as a probationary member.  Probationary members have all the rights and obligations of full members except the right to vote or hold office.  At the end of a satisfactory probationary period, the club members will vote on confirming full membership.
